COURSE: Diploma in Telecommunication Systems Engineering
DURATION: One Year.
TARGET: Young University, Polytechnic and College Graduates of Engineering, Computer Science, IT and related fields.
EXPECTED OUTPUT:
After completing the course the graduates will understand all communication technologies and their applications and relevance in ICT.
Participants will be able to design, plan and rollout telecommunication projects involving switching, radio, satellite, optical fiber, ADSL, Transmission and data networks.
AWARD OF DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE:
The participants will undergo continuous assessment tests every month and a final Examination. Successful participants will be awarded a Certificate in Telecommunication Systems Engineering
TUITION FEES: KSH 15,000 (US$ 200) Per Module.

Data Communication: Internet and TCP/IP,Data Communication with X.25 and FR, Computer LAN and WAN ,VOIP and Soft Switching
MODULE 3: Two Weeks, August 2nd-13th, 2010
Radio and Wireless: Digital Microwave Radio Communication, Antenna Engineering, Mobile and Cellular, Wireless Technology, Satellite Communication, VSAT.

Transmission: Transmission Systems, PCM, SDH Technology, ADSL Systems, Multiplexers, DXCs, Routers
Module 5: Two weeks,
Optical fiber Communication: Fiber types, Fiber Characteristics and parameters, SMF and MMF Systems, Multiplexers, OXCs, ADMs, protection switching, WDM and DWDM, SDH Rings, Long Haul DWDM, Submarine fiber systems, FTTH and FTTO systems, PON Systems

Telecommunication Management: Telecommunication Regulations, Network Planning, Frequency Planning, Licensing of communication services, Telecoms Project Management

Broadcasting technology: Audio, video, Studio technology, transmitters, Codec, MPEG-4, Editing, Studio to Transmitter planning, Signal distribution, OB setup, HDTV, Cable TV, Digital broadcasting systems, Licensing, Monitoring, Coverage planning.
