• Cybersecurity & Digital Trust

The Cybersecurity & Digital Trust thematic area strengthens the security, resilience and trustworthiness of Africa’s digital ecosystem through applied research, policy advisory, innovation and capacity development. AFRALTI works with governments, regulators, industry and development partners to enhance cybersecurity governance, protect critical digital infrastructure, strengthen cyber resilience, promote data protection and privacy, advance threat intelligence, and build a skilled cybersecurity workforce. By integrating international best practices with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and automation, the Department supports the development of secure digital services, resilient institutions and trusted digital environments that enable sustainable digital transformation across Africa.
• Policy, Regulation & Digital Economy
We conduct research and provide technical advisory, policy analysis and capacity-building support on areas such as digital governance, ICT regulation, emerging technology policy, data governance, AI governance, digital markets and inclusive digital economies. By connecting research, policy and practice, AFRALTI helps governments, regulators and other institutions develop forward-looking frameworks that encourage innovation, protect digital rights, strengthen trust and enable sustainable economic participation. This work supports the development of resilient, competitive and inclusive digital economies across Africa.
