Telecommunications Policy, Regulation and Management

The LINK Centre, the University of the Witwatersrand based in South Africa and the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute, are offering the Telecommunications Policy Regulation and Management (TPRM).

On attending, participants will become familiar with: Analysing technological innovation in the digital sphere and implications for policy, regulation and markets; analysing the drivers of sector reform, including globalisation and convergence; critically analysing the electronic communications and digital services environment in a selected African country.

Who should attend?
Decision-makers, professionals and researchers in the electronic communications and ICT sector should attend this course in order to enhance their understanding of emerging trends in the ICT sector, and their understanding of the effects of ICT sector development on other economic and social sectors. Potential participants include individuals working in government policy departments, national and regional regulatory authorities, regulatory departments of ICT sector operators, lawyers, consultants, journalists, union officials, and NGOs involved in the sector.

Selected Lecture Series in Telecommunications Policy, Regulation and Management

The lecture series consists of 15 selected lectures drawn from the following themes, noting the provisional dates below.

Module 1: 10-14 July 2023: Digital technologies and the evolution of African markets for digital infrastructure and services.

Module 2: 14-18 August 2023: Global trends in ICT governance for African cyberspace.

Module 3: 18-22 September 2023: Policy, law and regulation for the electronic communications and digital services ecosystem.

Certificate of Attendance

A Certificate of Attendance for the Selected Lecture Series in Telecommunications Policy, Regulation and Management will be presented to participants who attend the full lecture series.
