SAFER INTERNET DAY 2023

Over the years, Safer Internet Day has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar. From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns.

This year AFRALTI marked the day by making it all about the internet users under the theme, “Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations online.”

The virtual roundtable offered a space for conversations about life online which saw participants engage with Child Online Protection experts, policy makers, regulators, lawyers and more.

It was clear from the discussion that with the sophistication of cyber attacks, availability of user-friendly attack tools, loopholes in legal frameworks, organised online crimes, vulnerabilities in hardware and software systems, cyber security continues to be the greatest concern.

Institutions such as AFRALTI working collaboratively with regulators and other strategic partners who are aligned in securing the digital space, should increase their activities in building capacity on simple measures everyday internet users should take to safeguard themselves.

AFRALTI promises to continue championing for secure cyberspace by offering its trainings to all.
