Nairobi, Kenya, 27th February 2024 – In a landmark move, Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC) and the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to solidify their dedication to joint efforts in shaping training curricula, research & consultancy within the ICT and telecommunications sphere.

Underscoring the belief in the power of partnership, the MOU, signed on Tuesday, 27th February 2024 by Andrew Lewela Mwanyota, KeNIC CEO, and Mr. William Baraza, Director at AFRALTI, signals the initiation of a strategic alliance focused on spurring innovation, fostering knowledge exchange, and propelling the development of pioneering solutions within the telecommunications sector.

Renowned for its excellence in ICT capacity building, research, and advisory services, AFRALTI brings a wealth of expertise to the collaboration, having carved a reputation as a leading institution in Africa dedicated to advancing knowledge and skills amidst the rapidly evolving telecommunications landscape.

KeNIC, responsible for overseeing Kenya’s country code top-level domain (.KE), plays a pivotal role in the nation’s digital infrastructure. The organization’s proficiency in domain management, administration, and internet governance cements its status as a crucial entity in fortifying an enriching online ecosystem.

The MOU delineates areas of shared interest and cooperation, encompassing capacity building, training needs assessment, program design, expertise sharing, hosting of training programs and workshops, and research & consultancy in ICT innovation.

At the signing ceremony, representatives from both KeNIC and AFRALTI voiced enthusiasm about the partnership’s potential. They underscored the paramount significance of collaboration in meeting the evolving demands of the telecommunications sector and propelling its holistic development.

African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) is an Inter-Governmental Organisation established in 1991 to supplement and spearhead ICT development efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa.
